SCROLL BELOW FOR MURALS |
Murals Palm Beach Gardens, Murals Boca Raton, Murals North Palm Beach, Murals Port St. Lucie
The above mural was done on a knockdown textured ceiling. Completed on March 12, 2009
Shaun Fix of Port St. Lucie, FL. met me at the Treasure Coast Home Show and before too long he had a sky over the master bedroom (total ceiling). Oh yes, I added stars that illuminate under a black light.

(ABOVE) Finally I took pictures of Chris's Taverna, the Greek restaurant in Lantana.
It is always busy and the pictures look strangely appropriate with the crowd.

Yes my timing was unfortunate but it gives you an idea as to what the atmosphere in old Greece might be like. I handled this as if we were in Athens in 480 B.C. The lions and every detail inside the restaurant is as it was.

The above mural was completed on January 26th. Brenda Messina emailed me regarding a mural for her home. Upon meeting with Larry, Brenda, Drew and Lauren and getting plenty of feedback as to what they were looking for, I came up with a composite of their interests. Larry sketched an idea that I altered slightly to include water, Tuscan landscape and Brenda's flower color preference. It was a pleasant job. THE CHALLENGE: How to paint detail on a textured (knock-down) wall. It turned out that the texture was a blessing in many ways.

Notice that the knock-down wall texture is not a deterrent at all. For all those mural artists that shy away from such projects, use the texture in a positive way. I noticed that the texture provides an ideal base for a simulated rock effect and helps in randomizing organic noise like pebbles and dirt. Don't paint with long smooth strokes, rather scumble and work the pigment into the wall. Gradations and softness are easily attained. I destroy and brutalize my brushes.

COPS MONITORING BEFORE MURAL STARTED

"COPS COVE" Completed 11/27/08
Mark Taylor, of C.O.P.S. Monitoring in Boca Raton, FL.,
requested a mural for their cafeteria that had a Florida
atmosphere. I worked 17 days on this scene. Instead of
doing the typical beach scene I tried to show both coastal
and inland qualities of Florida.

Donna True of Stuart, FL. wanted to
have a mural cover the back of a newly built bookcase.
After asking
Donna many questions about her lifestyle, likes and interests, it
was easy to produce her own private cove. "Donna's Cove". |

The above detail is of a current Greek
restaurant project called Chris's Taverna. Located at Jog rd. and
Lantana rd. in Lake Worth, Florida. It is the most popular Greek restaurant
I have ever seen. People stand in line to get into this place. I will
have the complete job when I can take more pictures. There are 5 murals
and many vignettes. |

ABOVE: Mural for Dick and Judy Carl of Hobe
Sound, FL
They needed a mural for their staircase wall niche.
Completed April 4th, 2008

ABOVE: John and Johnna Discippio of Stuart
Florida wanted a mural painted on the above wall in their Family
room. They wanted a yacht and a jumping dolphin included. I gave them a patio and extended their existing tile. While they were away for a month I painted the mural below. |

ABOVE: After 3 1/2 Weeks of work they now
have a private patio and beach,
13 birds, a jumping dolphin and a 144 ft yacht.

ABOVE: This is a BEFORE photo of a Pool and
Spa Wall
The Denis Family of Port St. Lucie wanted a mural of the beach.
This particular wall had two challenges; a rough inconsistent texture
and a window of shade (production time) of about 5 1/2 hours a day.
The following is an example of how I think with any job. You will
notice that the spa and pool completely overwhelm the overall balance
of the patio area. My solution would correct this imbalance and enhance
the overall effect of the whole patio.

ABOVE: Each mural, is designed to solve a
specific problem.
The wall defined the very nature (composition) of this mural from
the beginning. I extended the spa structure upwards to include the
clam shell, then added the tile background and put the focus on the
dolphin. The beach works well on textured walls when the paint
is blended in smooth gradations and the sky is as bright as possible.
ABOVE: Detail of previous photo. A crab is harassed
by a shorebird and the Conch shell is for Mirlande.
